Peaceful Serenity: Retreat to Joshua Tree

Welcome to mystical Joshua Tree, where you’ll enjoy a four night yoga retreat with Lumos Instructor Sam Leonetti, full of reflection, relaxation, and re-centering. Combining vinyasa flows, restorative yoga, and guided meditation with nature hikes, intention setting, and starlit bonfires, this retreat cultivates space to reconnect to yourself and the natural world. Our days include hikes in Joshua Tree National Park, sunrise meditation, stargazing in the desert, refreshing at a local spa, cozying up by the bonfire, journaling and reflecting, and nourishing meals provided by an on-site professional chef.

The Itinerary

Wednesday

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Cactus Moon Retreat! We’ll start the retreat with a Welcome Ceremony and Gentle Yoga to feel grounded. Next we’ll gather for a welcome dinner, and conclude with pre-bed Restorative Yoga.

Thursday

Start your morning bright and early with a sunrise meditation, or join a little later for Vinyasa Yoga. Today we’ll head into Joshua Tree National Park for a few short hikes and a picnic lunch at the Cholla Cactus Garden. We’ll complete our hike after lunch, and return back to Cactus Moon for a Stretch & Restore session. Relax by the pool util it’s time for dinner, and we’ll fire up the bonfire to finish the day.

Friday

We’ll head into Joshua Tree for a Sunrise Meditation and Gentle Yoga, followed by breakfast in the park. We’ll complete a hike, and stop at the Tree Grove for journaling before completing our day’s hikes. Return back to Cactus Moon for a free afternoon, and enjoy afternoon Vinyasa Yoga before dinner. The night will end with a bedtime Meditation and Restorative Yoga.

Saturday

Start your day off with Sunrise Meditation, or sleep in a little before morning Vinyasa Yoga. Today we’ll drive into Palm Springs, and enjoy the day at the Spa at Séc-He. Spa guests enjoy the Taking of the Waters - a 15 minute private mineral bath, a healing tradition of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. The Tribe has been steward of the spring for generations, and this 105 degree anceint water is said to be healing. Other amenities include a eucalyptus steam room, halotherapy salt caves, a main pool, and more. Later in the afternoon we’ll return back to Cactus Moon for Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, and our final dinner of the trip. We’ll conclude with a bonfire and closing Gratitude Ceremony and Meditation.

Sunday

We’ll offer a final Yoga session before breakfast, and depart from Cactus Moon.

Cactus Moon Retreat


Cactus Moon Retreat is a house in Yucca Valley, CA just a short drive from Joshua Tree National Park. It features a saline heated pool, yoga studio with props, and fire pit. The closest airport is Palm Springs (PSP).

Cactus Moon has 5 bedrooms, and we will only have 7 spots open on this retreat!

How to Book Your Room

  • Select your room - two rooms are double occupancy only (a king bed in one, and two twin beds in the second). The other three rooms are single occupancy only.

  • A non-refundable $500 deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due by January 30th, and partial payments can be sent in before.

  • Payment plans are available, and our booking system defaults to 4 installments plus the deposit. After you have paid the deposit, email info@lumosfitness.com if you would like to be adjusted to 2 or 3 installments. You also have the option to pay in full.

The Instructor

About Sam

Sam first came to yoga asana through aerial yoga in 2104 and absolutely fell in love with it. That segued into vinyasa and restorative yoga classes, completing a beautiful trifecta of powerful, restful, and creative styles of asana. In 2016 she completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher and 25 hour Registered Yoga Assist Certificates at Hot Asana Yoga Studio in Durham, NC. Since then she has completed 50 additional hours of Yoga Anatomy + Applied Anatomy Sequencing Training at Y7 Studio in NYC and has taught over 1750 hours of yoga asana classes. Sam is currently in med school to get her Doctor of Physical Therapy and loves infusing her anatomy and biomechanics knowledge into her classes.
