Bar Hygge

Hygge is a Danish concept, embodying a feeling or mood, that comes from taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day things more meaningful, beautiful or special. For Bar Hygge, it means creating a warm atmosphere where guests can enjoy the good things in life with friends and family. They are not a Danish-themed restaurant. Chef Julie Kline presents a new/contemporary American menu with seasonal changes and a focus on neighborhood comfort food - we love their brunch on weekends and in-house brewed beers and snack boards.

Christie’s Deli

Christie’s Deli is a Fairmount hidden gem. Great sandwiches, and run by the nicest family - it’s the kind of place every neighborhood wishes they had. There isn’t a “Lumos Special” (yet) - but our personal favorite is turkey on toasted whole wheat with melted cheddar, honey mustard, lettuce, and avocado. You can’t go wrong with any items on the menu though! You can order online, or just call directly and order over the phone. You can also walk in for takeout.

Osteria

Looking for a place in Fairmount to take friends that impresses? Osteria is a great option - with a menu featuring antipasti, homemade pastas, house-cured salumi, authentic Neapolitan and Roman-style pizzas, wood-grilled meats, seafood and decadent desserts. They have one of the best happy hours in the city ($5-6 pizzas and pastas!), and are reopening for in-restaurant dining soon.

Pizzeria Vetri

Pizzeria Vetri to celebrate the art of authentic pizza making. Simple food made exactly the right way, using the best and freshest ingredients, served in a space where all are welcome. Our favorites - the Eggplant (formerly known as Melanzana) and a Margerita with Arugula.

Umai Umai

The freshest sushi in Fairmount - and some of the most inventive rolls. Chef / Owner Alex McCoy has been challenging the limits of traditional sushi for over ten years in Philadelphia. His imaginative sushi creations have a distinct style, carefully balancing tradition and ingenuity. His menu, especially his beloved specialty rolls, represent his unique personality and experiences. We love the Traffic Light roll….and the Nemo….and the Spartan….

Ursa Bakery

After baking in Philly's restaurants for nearly a decade, Claire Kopp McWilliams wanted to bring fresh milled, locally grown bread to more people. She started Ursa Bakery as a side project in 2018, while still running the baking and milling program at Vetri Cucina. In her second farmers market season, she left the restaurant entirely and is now running the bakery full time, year round. Claire only uses fresh milled flour, and it is entirely grown in Pennsylvania. She favors the sourdoughs, but tries to make a little something for everybody.

Her bread is fantastic, and can be found each week at the Fairmount Famers Market on Thursdays, at the corner of 22nd and Fairmount Ave. - 2-6 PM in the winter, 3-7 PM in the summer.
