Tarot 101 with Gina Tomaine - Featuring the Philly Tarot Deck
Join Gina Tomaine at Lumos on Saturday, May 14th, from 1:00-2:30 for a Tarot 101 Workshop featuring the Philly Tarot Deck.
Tarot reading has evolved over the centuries into a popular practice with many gorgeous varieties of decks and practices on how to use and read the cards. If you've ever wanted to learn more about tarot reading, how to read the cards, and how to use your deck for self-reflection and communication with others — with a modern Philly twist — this exciting and reflective workshop is for you.
Gina Tomaine has written about tarot as a valuable therapeutic and meditative practice for outlets like Cosmopolitan, Yoga Journal, and Philadelphia magazine. She is the author of the Philly Tarot Deck Guidebook for the Philly Tarot Deck, created by James Boyle, and a practitioner and student of intuitive tarot. She believes that tarot is an invaluable psychological tool, and that it can be particularly useful for reflection and centering. She looks forward to sharing what she's learned so far with you in an uplifting and thoughtful afternoon.
Attendees can come just for the workshop and bring their own deck, or can purchase the workshop + a discounted Philly Tarot Deck! (The deck typically costs $40; but costs $30 when purchased alongside the workshop.)

ABOUT THE PHILLY TAROT DECK In October 2018, Gina wrote an article for Philadelphia magazine about the local popularity of tarot reading and astrology. Illustrator James Boyle and art director Alyse Moyer came up with an accompanying image of three Philadelphia-themed tarot cards. There was such an overwhelming response that James set out to produce a full custom Philadelphia-themed Tarot deck, complete with an accompanying guidebook written by Gina. The deck has 78 full-color illustrations featuring beloved icons like Gritty, the Rocky Statue, a SEPTA bus, and City Hall.
